3. Using the Board

  • Basic Principles:
    Finger writing/ Arm writing

4. Realia
  • Real objects in the classroom or brought into the classroom.
  • Easiest kind of visual aid; no special preparation required.
  • Used to teach vocabulary, practice a structure, or used as prompts for developing a story or dialogue. 
  • Often more interesting than material from text books and can be on objects that will really engage the students. 
  • Students can see, hear, and in some cases touch the objects.
What realia could be used to help teach the following:
~Introducing students to the topic of Christmas
~Presenting the present perfect tense
~Reviewing expressions of colour, shape, size
~Practicing functional language in a dialogue/role play asking for a bus schedule

5. Pictures
6. Flash cards
   : review for student remember, prompt, several sentence word, picture, create conversation. 

A picture is with worth a 1000 words. 

7. Worksheets
  • Worksheets should: 
    They can write lots of things they can do as a reference
8. Multimedia (cartoons, power point, iPad)
  • Advantages: 
    1. resourceful
    2. help to understand easily (effective)
    3. stimulate interesting 
    4. eye catching
    5. alive
    6. motion
    7. colorful

  • Disadvantages: 
    1. limit opportunity thinking
    2. less interaction
    3. strict imagination
    4. electricity
9. Teacher : to be the visual aid. thinking, imagination.
